William Ruto Praises Raila Odinga About His Quest For AUC Seat

Nairobi—President William Ruto has officially launched ODM leader Raila Odinga's bid to become the head of the African Union Commission.

In his speech on Tuesday, August 27, at the White House NairobiRuto praised Raila's credentials, saying he was the perfect man for the AUC job.

“Therefore, I know that Hon Odinga not only has the necessary qualifications, but is also the right candidate to lead the African Union Commission. Therefore, Kenya endorses his candidacy unequivocally, and we wholeheartedly commit to supporting his candidacy, his vision and his ideas. He embodies vast experience and deep understanding of African affairs and international trends, which is essential for leading the African Union at the center of international affairs and close to the hearts of our people,” Ruto he said.

Ruto named him Raila a distinguished politician whose long life in leadership has been sustained by a sincere commitment to democratic change as the basis for sustainable freedom and prosperity.

The President said the ODM leader has experience and has a proven record in leadership to bring about change.

“He has academic ability and experience, a proven track record of transformational leadership and extensive experience of success at the national and regional level,” he added.

Ruto expressed his belief that the former prime minister will make Africa proud and strong.

“Gentlemen, I present to you a politician with a vision, a strong and wise leader, professionalism and technocracy as well as a veteran politician and motivator to bring positive change. I believe he will do everything he can and do everything he can to make Africa proud and strong,” the president said.
