Nairobi – President William Ruto has officially launched the Azimio campaign Raila Odinga vying for the AUC chairmanship.
The event was attended by various heads of state from the East African community as well as the leaders of Kenya.
During the event, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who previously had differences with Raila, praised him a lot.
Gachagua named him Raila as the best of Kenya and to acknowledge his great contribution to Africa.
“What a day, what a minute! We are here to introduce Raila Odinga, the star of Kenya, to lead the African Union Commission. I would like to tell African leaders that we are presenting Raila as our candidate because Africa, our motherland deserves a person who is dedicated and diligent Raila in Africa is well written without knowing age and limit,” he said.
Why did Rigathi Gachagua, Raila differ?
He noted that his only concern was the competition between Raila and Ruto run for the presidency in 2022.
Gachagua also mentioned that, according to the opinion from the public, Raila's bid to compete for the AUC position is widely supported across political and social divides.
“To be honest, I didn't have a fight with Raila Odinga's leadership, the problem was just competing for the same position as my boss, now he is running for the highest seat in Africa, we are all behind him. I have listened to the foundation and all Kenyans in all political divisions support your candidacy and we wish you well,” he insisted.
