Nairobi – Wiper Democratic Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has joined Kenyans protesting the new university funding model.
Speaking in Githurai on Sunday, August 25, Kalonzo threatened to mobilize protests in the country if the administration of the President William Ruto will continue to implement the new funding model.
Why Kalonzo opposes the new funding model for universities
The former vice president criticized the new funding model, calling it a 'bad model of higher education' that Kenyans should reject.
“We will motivate this country to say No! with this corrupt model of higher education funding. We have the experience, determination and prayer to stand in the gap and refuse to allow this country to return to dictatorship. Zacchaeus has failed the people of Kenya,Kalonzo said.
Head of the Union Party of Declaration of Unity One Kenya accused the government of introducing the complex model without proper public participation and stakeholder engagement.
“We give a notice to the government, which seems to have no understanding of managing this important sector, if the plan is to do college education staple be an opportunity only for the able-bodied, then the marginalized will rise up to reclaim their rightful access,” he added.
