Nairobi – Prime Minister of the Council of Ministers Stay Mudavadi has appointed Jacob Ng'etich as its new director of Information Services.
What will be the key roles of Jacob Ng'etich?
Ng'etich, a former journalist with Standard Media, replaces Salim Swaleh, who was arrested and charged with allegedly assisting fraudsters in defrauding foreigners of KSh 5.8 million.
TUKO.co.ke has learned that Ng'etich arrived at his new station last week and has been distributing information to the media from Mudavadi's office.
The former Standard Media journalist will be in charge of communications in Mudavadi's office and in his capacity as Cabinet secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs.
Ng'etich's key responsibilities will include managing media relations, developing communication materials and maintaining brand integrity across all platforms.
Ng'etich has been a long-time political journalist at The Standard newspaper, where he was chief political reporter, and previously worked at the Nation.
Why Salim Swaleh apologized to Mudavadi
At the same time, Salim publicly confessed and apologized to the Chief Secretary of the Cabinet for breaking his trust.
In a video seen by TUKO.co.ke, Swaleh said he recorded his apology after unsuccessful attempts to reach Mudavadi.
In the emotional video, Swaleh admitted to breaking Mudavadi's trust, which he said they had built up over the years.
While expressing his deep regret for betraying trust, Swaleh admitted that Mudavadi has been a father to him since they met.
The charges facing Salim Swaleh
As previously reported, Swaleh and five other suspects were charged with fraud and misuse of Mudavadi's office.
Police Inspector Nicholas Njorore claimed that the suspects lured foreigners to the country by promising to get a tender to build two stadiums.
According to Njoroge, the foreigners were required to pay a registration fee of KSh 5.7 million to get the tender.
