What did Kawira Mwangaza say after being removed from power?

The embattled governor took to social media on Thursday, August 22, to announce his plans to lead it Meru for 10 years without interruption.

“Kabi kabi go go go.#MbeuyaNgai# KumiBilaBreak So help me God,” he said.

Under the caption, he posted a photo of himself in his office, indicating that he is ready to return to work and serve the people of Meru.

He also mentioned that he met with the Cabinet to discuss and move forward with important plans to address important issues in the county.

“This afternoon, I was pleased to meet with the Cabinet to discuss and develop important plans to address important issues in our county,” he said.

How the senators voted to fire Mwangaza

This follows the Senate's confirmation of Mwangaza's dismissal on Wednesday, August 21, a decision previously made by the Members of the County Assembly (MCAs).

The MCAs accused Mwangaza of abuse of office, gross misconduct, and violation of the constitution and other laws.

The Senate concluded its deliberations, with many leaders finding Mwangaza guilty of all crimes.

The process was not without controversy, as some senators criticized Speaker Amason Kingi for not allowing enough time for voting, especially for those attending the sessions closely.

However, the High Court temporarily postponed the prosecution of Mwangaza after opposing the decision of the Senate session on Tuesday, August 20, to approve his removal from office.

In a decision seen by TUKO.co.ke, Judge Luck Mwamuye suspended the Senate resolution until the case is heard and decided.

The judge further prevented Senate Speaker Amason Kingi from announcing the removal of Mwangaza in the government gazette.
