One family of Kakamega mourns their two relatives who are among the 14 victims who perished in the bus accident that happened in Migaa, near Salgaa, Nakuru county.
The tragedy on Tuesday happened after the bus was on its way Mombasa causing a multi-vehicle accident after alleged brake failure; 14 people have been confirmed dead.
Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Allan Gona revealed that his family had lost two people in the accident who were on their way home after attending a cousin's funeral.
“My aunt, Lilian Alusa, had gone home to Kakamega for a cousin's funeral last weekend. She was with her brother Paul. She stayed in Voi, and after Saturday's funeral, she planned to travel back to Voi on Monday evening, we lost both of them in an accident,” he said.
Allan praised his aunt as a loving and charismatic woman who radiated love and happiness everywhere she went.
“He was my mother's best friend. He was also a very loving and humble person. I remember he gave me a t-shirt and jeans after I finished the fourth form which was very happy for him. He will be remembered even in the church where he played an important role as a devoted Catholic.” he said.
Final conversation
Allan recalled his last conversation with his aunt, saying they discussed repairing her son's grave.
“She had plans to put cement on the graves of her deceased son. Even when she was traveling we were communicating about the same plans. She also talked to her husband on Monday evening before he met his death in that terrible accident,” he added.
The family is now preparing to bury the two brothers just a few days after laying their cousin to rest.
