- Anne Kanjeru, the mother of the murdered Meru blogger Daniel Muthiani has not yet recovered from the murder of her son
- The old woman created a ruckus in the Senate by screaming when the case to dismiss Governor Kawira Mwangaza was ongoing
- Mwangaza's aides were previously arrested in connection with the murder of a political activist and a blogger
Nairobi – The mother of a Meru political activist who was killed by blogger Daniel Muthiani aka 'Sniper' caused an incident outside the Senate hall on Tuesday, August 20, the second day of the impeachment trial of the Governor Kawira Mwangaza.
How Sniper's mother caused chaos in the Senate
The cabinet of the county government Meru for legal issues Dickson Munene had just taken a stand when an old woman, that is Anne Kanjeru, screamed and attracted the Speaker of the Senate, Amason Kingi.
The speaker used to ignore the noise until it seemed to cause a nuisance.
Kingi stopped the operation and ordered the sergeant to restore order by carrying the woman out of the building.
Despite Kanjeru's objections and 'stubbornness,' parliamentary security officers managed to evict him from the Senate and move him to a remote area, allowing the operation to continue.
How the Sniper's killing tormented Mwangaza
The Sniper killing was one of the issues that shaped the case of the Meru governor in the Senate session.
For example, the senator of Fever Bay Moses Kajwang' held Mwangaza responsible for the blogger's death, suggesting the magnitude of the issue.
“People are playing on Sniper's grave. Can the governor tell us if he is a suspect and if he is among those brought to court on suspicion or suspicion of killing Sniper, because we cannot use that innocent young man to solve political issues and It's sad that all parties choose to play on Sniper's grave,” Kajwang said.
In his response, the embattled county boss denied involvement in the blogger's murder, insisting that the police never picked him up to record a statement.
He said the detectives did their investigation at his residence and left.
In January 2024, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) preferred murder charges against two people in connection with the Sniper's brutal murder.
The two were; Murangiri Kenneth Guantai, a police officer and brother of Mwangaza, and Vincent Mureithi.
Sniper's badly decomposed body was discovered on December 17 last year after several days of disappearance.
The problems that befell Kawira Mwangaza
The county's chief executive was sacked on August 8 when 49 out of 69 MCAs voted to remove him from office.
Mwangaza faced accusations of abuse of officegross misconduct, and unconstitutionality.
This was the governor's third attempt to remove him from power after other attempts in the past two years.
