The 25-year-old man, Joseph Munyi, was found dumped in a rice field by local residents who were cutting grass.
Speaking to Citizen Digital, Mwea East Sub-County Police Commander Patrick Nyaanga said that Munyi had serious facial injuries when he was found.
Residents of the area who were at the scene said that the deceased disappeared on Wednesday, August 14.
They said that Munyi's mother and the villagers have been searching for him without success.
“We wonder who could have killed him and thrown his body into the drain of the rice field,” one resident said.
Munyi's colleague mentioned that the last time he saw him he was alive, which made him suspect that he was killed.
The police have started an investigation into the matter.
“We have started an investigation to find out what exactly happened to Munyi,” Police Commander Nyaaga said.
The body of the late Munyi was taken to Kibugi mortuary awaiting autopsy.
