Rigathi Gachagua is the deputy president of Kenya who was elected to office in the 2022 General Election to replace William Ruto.
Before entering politics, the outspoken politician started his career as a district officer (Do) before rising to become a personal assistant to retired president Uhuru Kenyatta (PA) and Member of Parliament for Mathira (MP).
During the 2022 deputy presidential debate, Gachagua revealed that he was worth KSh 800 million.
“I worked in the Ministry of Lands, I earned KSh 64 million. I earned KSh 10 million from Kenya Power, KSh 33 million during my time in the Ministry of Livestock, and another KSh 46 million I worked for an organization called Batek… I am worth KSh 800 million,” he revealed.
After assuming the position two years ago, Gachagua has been working in the business world, expanding the scope of his family's business.

Gachagua revealed that he is married to one woman and has two children.
He was blessed with two boys during his marriage of over 35 years with Dorcas Wanjiku Rigathi.
Which hotels does the Gachagua family own?
1. Treetops Hotel
According to Daily Nation, Gachagua's son, Keith, acquired the Treetops Hotel, which opened in 2022, ushering in a new era for the hospitality industry.
The Treetops Hotel, famous for witnessing Queen Elizabeth's ascension to the throne 72 years ago, is an important remnant of the Mau Mau movement there Pain.
Keith explained that the establishment holds a large part of the history of Kenyaincluding his struggle for liberation, which has yet to be told.
“For example, very few people know that under the hotel there are underground tunnels built by Mau Mau fighters to access the station,” he explained.
Located about 10 kilometers from the hotel, in the Aberdare Forest, is a fig tree that was used as a post office for the Mau Mau movement.
Gachagua (Riggy G) said the decision to buy the historic hotel was based on a challenge he shared with local businessmen.
2. Outspan Hotel
Eric Sherbrooke Walker founded the Outsoan Hotel in the 1920s in Nyeri.
Perched on a river gorge in the Aberdare range, the hotel was built on 69 acres of land that Walker acquired in 1928.
It is famous for being home to Paxtu, a scout museum used as Baden-Powell's residence in the late 1930s.
Gachagua confirmed the acquisition of the hotel on April 4, 2022, at Nyeri National Polytechnic's fourth graduation ceremony.
3. Olive Gardens Hotel
Who Owns Kenya reported that Olive Gardens Hotel is another resort owned by the Gachagua family.
Olive Gardens Hotel in Nairobi is a three-star hotel approximately 3.8 kilometers from the Kenyatta International Conference Center (KICC).
The hotel has 60 rooms with exclusive Wi-Fi, private bathrooms and flat-screen TVs.
It has a restaurant serving African food, a garden, and a free private parking area.
4. Pingo Beach Resort
KilifiKenya's most spectacular beach, is home to the luxurious Vipingo Beach Hotel, which is located 20 kilometers from the Sweet Seas National Park.
It has a restaurant, a garden, a veranda, and private parking.
The resort has an infinity pool where guests can relax gracefully and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

Encater Diagnostics Ltd
The company deals in medical devices. It is said that it received KSh 123,175,000 after winning the tender in the respective county governments.
Technical Supplies and Services (K)
The construction company received KSh 220,877,180.85 from the national government.
Skytop Corporations
Skytop organizations received KSh 20.6 million from the national government and another KSh 2.05 million from the county.
Other companies are Machine Center Ltd, Riang International Group Ltd, Jenne Enterprises and Rapid Group.
