- Senator Karen Nyamu expressed her dismay at the senators who celebrated the removal of the Meru governor from power
- He said despite not opposing the sacking of Kawira Mwangaza, he felt it was wrong for others to celebrate his downfall
- However, the High Court in Nairobi has issued orders to suspend Mwangaza until the case is heard and resolved
Senator-elect Karen Nyamu took to the internet to rebuke senators who appeared to be celebrating the removal of the Meru governor Kawira Mwangaza in power.
Why was Kawira Mwangaza sacked?
On Wednesday, August 21, senators found Mwangaza guilty of all three charges brought against him by the County Assembly Meru.
Some 26 senators voted to support the first charge of serious violations of the Constitution and other laws.
In the second charge of gross misconduct, 26 senators voted in favor of his dismissal, two opposed, another 14 abstained, and 27 senators supported the charge of abuse of office.

Karen Nyamu what feeling did he have?
Nyamu took to his social media to express his dismay at the senators who celebrated the removal of Mwangaza.
“I will never forget how some of my colleagues celebrated the sacking of the Meru governor last night. It's not that I don't support his sacking, but to celebrate? I don't understand people's hearts,” he said.
He further claimed that the grounds used to accuse Mwangaza were weak as the threshold was far from being met.
Nyamu seemed to imply that Mwangaza's failure to govern his county resulted in repeated threats of his removal from power.
“How can you not deal with your people. As governor, you were the greatest politician in Meru,” he added.
