Agan is the father of journalist and blogger Scophine Aoko, popularly known as Maverick Aoko.

Aoko was in police custody all weekend following his arrest. Before his request, his father told TUKO.co.ke that he had traveled all night by bus to get out Migori to have a famous daughter.

He appeared in court on Monday, August 19, facing charges related to controversial posts on his X platform.

The trip was good for Agan after the court released Aoko on KSh 100,000 bail.

“This is my first born daughter and I had to travel all night from Migori, I am very happy that she has been released on bail, I could not even sleep, you can see for yourself how happy I am, I am very happy. parent,” Agan said.

Aoko was released on Ksh 100,000 cash bail after pleading not guilty to three charges of publishing false news and online harassment.

He was arrested at his home on Friday, August 16 and is due back in court on September 2 for a pretrial hearing.

What are the charges laid against Maverick Aoko

According to the prosecution, the blogger and journalist allegedly used his social media channel to spread false and slanderous news about the complainant Beth Wambui Mbuitu.

Senior Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi, when ruling on his bail application, ordered that the mobile phones and laptops seized from Aoko during his arrest be exhibits and therefore should not be released.

In addition, the court instructed the police officers to consider releasing them when they undergo a professional investigation.

Earlier, TUKO.co.ke reported that Kemunto Nyakundi, a Kenyan woman who left an abusive marriage a few years ago, praised her father for his role in keeping her alive.

The girl knew how great her father's love was when she learned that her husband treated her badly.

In a Facebook post, Kemunto revealed that his father was so saddened by the news that he shed tears.
