The newspaper reported that the meeting of the Unity One Kenya Union, which was to be chaired by former President Uhuru Kenyatta, was canceled after Raila Odinga's ODM boycotted it.

The resolution council meeting was scheduled to start at 4pm, but instead, ODM members called a press conference at 1pm where they strongly warned against any attempt to unseat him Raila as the leader of the Azimio party.

Representatives of major parties associated with the coalition party, including Wiper, Jubilee, DAP-K, Kanu, and PNU, were present.

But a few hours before the meeting via Zoom, other affiliated parties were shocked to get information about the ODM meeting with the media where ODM officials led by the chairman Gladys Wanga said they were not aware of the Declaration meeting and warned against any attempts to oust Raila from the leadership that union.

ODM insisted that only Azimio council secretary general Junet Mohammed had the authority to call the meeting.

But DAP-K party leader Eugene Wamalwa, who was among those who attended the Uhuru meeting, insisted that Raila and Junet were in private at the meeting, which would mean that ODM ignored it.

Barasa also emphasized the importance of accurate information amid the increase in unverified reports on social media.

“We want to remind everyone that suspected cases are not confirmed cases,” he said. “We appreciate the media's role in disseminating information, but it is important that this is done with caution, especially when dealing with unverified reports. Our commitment is to provide Kenyans with timely and accurate updates.”

The case of the missing Equity Bank manager, who allegedly stole more than KSh 1.6 billion, took another turn as his lawyers filed a habeas corpus petition at the High Court.

Lawyers Ndegwa Njiru and Alex Gatundu wanted the suspect to be brought to court claiming that David Machiri Kimani who was out on bond of KSh 500,000 was kidnapped by the police.

Kimani was scheduled to appear in court last Thursday for a summons to confirm the compliance, but he failed to appear.

Njiru argued before Milimani Senior Chief Magistrate Geoffrey Onsarigo that the police kidnapped the suspect, forcing the court to intervene to bring him to justice.

However, the State Prosecutor denied the alleged kidnapping, insisting that Kimani had failed to comply with court orders.
