The weather pattern in different parts of the country is expected to be characterised by rain, cold and varying intervals of sun in the next five days starting from Saturday, July 27, 2024, to Wednesday, July 31, 2024.
In a notice issued by the Kenya Meteorological Department (Kenya Met), some areas in the country will receive rains accompanied by thunderstorms during that period.
“Intermittent cool and cloudy conditions are expected over some parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the South-eastern lowlands and the Rift Valley,” the weather forecast advisory read in part.
“Rainfall is expected to continue over some parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Central Rift Valley and North-western Kenya,”it added.
Weather in Nairobi
Nairobi County falls under the Highlands East of the Rift Valley region. Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri,Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu and Tharaka Nithi Counties are also in the Highlands East of the Rift Valley region.
According to the weatherman, the areas will receive light showers throughout the five days. The weather will however remain partly cloudy in the afternoon and evening before setting the stage for light showers.
In the five days, the maximum temperature will hit 27 degrees Celsius with a minimum of 7 degrees Celsius.
Coastal region
Mombasa, Tana River, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale Counties will remain calm with the weather being characterised by sunny intervals and clouds.
Temperatures in the five counties will remain relatively high above 20 degrees Celsius in the next five days.
Nakuru, Kisumu, Kakamega
The Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley consist of Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii,
Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo,Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet,Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho,Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga,Bungoma, Busia and West Pokot Counties.
The above-listed counties are expected to record light showers whereas in some areas, thunderstorms will be experienced. According to the weatherman, the rain will pound in the morning, afternoon and in the evening.
South-eastern lowlands
Weather in Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado and Taita Taveta Counties will be characterised by Cloudy breaking into sunny intervals for the next five days.
According to the weatherman, the forecast may change during the week, thus advising Kenyans to look out for 24 hour updates.
“This forecast should be used in conjunction with the daily (24-hour) forecast issued by this Department,” Kenya Met advised.
